As we head into the summer months, many of us have our minds on other things like; upcoming vacations, hanging out at the pool or lake, boating, barbecuing etc. While that’s great we still have to keep our minds on the safety of our workers while at the workplace.
The Ministry of Labour (MOL) runs their blitz campaigns all year long, so just because the weather is getting hotter, doesn’t mean that they disappear. You’re still going to see the MOL inspectors out in the field visiting construction sites, warehouses, restaurants including fast food and franchises, office environments, retail stores and many more.
Starting in June, the MOL will focus on Working at heights – fall protection training to make sure anyone working at heights of 3 metres or more have been properly trained and also using all the proper, required fall restraint equipment in case of a fall.
While Working at heights – fall protection training will be their primary focus; once they visit your workplace they will also make sure that all other regulations and laws are being adhered too.
There are different requirements depending on the industry and rating that your company is in. Working at Heights for all construction rated companies and those that perform work on any construction site.
Anyone who completed Working at Heights training more than 3 years ago whose certification has expired, you are required to complete the half day refresher training to maintain your certification. Contact us for more details.
Fall Arrest is for all companies not rated as construction such as industrial, warehouses etc. who perform non-construction job functions as per the MOL definition of construction.
