As the kids get set to head back to school and the days get shorter, it also means the Ministry of Labour Fall/Winter blitz and provincial initiative campaigns will be in full swing.

The MOL will be conducting their blitz campaigns in the construction, Big Box retail, franchised businesses, warehousing, industrial, healthcare and mining sectors.

If/when an inspector enters your workplace, cooperation will yield your best possible results. You may have some deficiencies in your health & safety programs, but as long as you cooperate to the fullest, in our past experiences, the inspectors will most likely issue orders for compliance and dates each order must be completed by.

Keep in mind, as well as issuing orders, the inspectors have the authority
to
issue 'on the spot fines' and 'stop work orders' at their discretion.

The MOL inspectors, once at your workplace, will be examining your entire health & safety program such as; up to date policies, procedures & programs, your Internal responsibility system, valid training documentation for specific hazard related activities such as; forklift, aerial lift, overhead crane, WHMIS 2015, violence and harassment, TDG, working at heights and more.

Another focus will be to make sure that businesses with 20 or more regular workers have a Joint Health & Safety Committee with certified members and fully functional. For businesses with 6-19 regular workers inspectors will make sure a Health & Safety Representative is in place and performing their required duties.

Below are all the details from the MOL website in regards to their blitz and initiative campaigns that are currently running and those in the near future.
